I have reached 100+ followers (thank you!) so I thought it was time to do an About Me. I haven’t done one of these before. I have a small bio on my page, and I’m kind of private, but I want people to know what they are getting into. The place where I share everything is http://samati.livejournal.com. My name is Sara, I’ll be 37 soon. I was born in California but raised in Louisiana. Now I live in central Florida. I’ve also lived in Washington, New Mexico and Mississippi. If I could live anywhere it would be London or Vancouver.

I’m bipolar (II) but don’t have symptoms (most of the time). I take my medication, get a lot of sleep, and don’t drink. But my first 30-odd years were nuts. Especially the 90s (do I even remember what I did then)?

I identify as “not exactly straight”. I have experience with women, but all in all I lean towards guys. (Don’t tell the gorgeous ginger in my office, though, because if she shows the slightest interest, it is ON. Unf.) I’ve been single for years, and for the most part, like it that way. 

I have a tween named Patrick who lives with me on the weekends and I talk about him a lot. He’s a good kid. He’s into Pokemon and Minecraft.

My best friend’s name is Carlos and he doesn’t have a Tumblr. He’s a comic book nerd and lets me talk about the latest gay romance novel I am reading. I love him.

I work in an office in the mortgage industry. I have to be at work at 7am (yuck) but I get off at 3pm (yeah!), so it’s pretty sweet. It just means early bedtimes.

Politically I’m very liberal and spiritually I’m very atheist. As it seems with a lot of other people like this, the rest of my family is very right and very religious. I try not to butt heads with them too often. I don’t talk about my beliefs a lot, but I will defend anyone who is oppressed because of theirs.

I love to cook. Cajun and southern, mostly. I love pizza, hamburgers, chocolate and sushi. I don’t hate much in the way of food. I post food pictures when I can be bothered to cook. I was a vegan all last year, just to see how it was.

TV: I don’t turn on the TV at all during the week, but I record The Daily Show, Community, Glee, The Big Bang Theory, 2 Broke Girls and Eureka, and Pat and I watch these together on the weekends. My first fandom was Farscape. I also watched all the Stargates, BSG, Torchwood, Life on Mars, Misfits and True Blood. I’ve seen every ep of the three next-generation Star Treks. My favorite is DS9. (I’m a Trekkie.)  It goes without saying that I’m a HUGE fan of Doctor Who and Sherlock. I HATE REALITY TV. Yuck.

Movies: My favorite movies are The Sound of Music, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Blazing Saddles, Aliens and Guys and Dolls. I love, love, love superhero movies. I’m super-duper excited for Avengers. I’ve seen all the Harry Potter movies but I didn’t read the books. Sci-fi is my favorite movie genre. I’ve seen all the Star Wars but I would not call myself a fan.

Oh books. I’m a voracious reader but nothing too heavy. When I was a kid it was all Steven King and Dean Koontz. Then I got into het romance. Read those for years. Then I discovered Sherlock fanfiction. That led to m/m romance. So I’ve been reading them for about six months. I read about two books a week. My bookshelf at Goodreads. I also own all the Sookie Stackhouse novels.

Music! Favorite bands: top three: Foo Fighters, Radiohead, Jeff Buckley. Also: Bjork, Fink (aka Fin Greenall), Gogol Bordello, and anything Irish from Flogging Molly to the Chieftains. Recently I’ve been listening to movie soundtracks on Pandora while i work. I tend to listen to one thing until I can’t stand it. I love dubstep.
